F1 Dangers
My mum was watching the live telecast of the F1 preliminaries last evening when she asked me if those "fences" are good enough.... I showed her the below videos...

When you watch them, think of the safety of those "behind" the fences and beyond, and decide for yourself how safe spectators are on-site:

Uniquely Singapore

Uniquely Singapore
(Pictures from STOMP)

If there is one thing Singapore can be famous for... beside the Durian and the LionFish (?)...

It has definately got to be this...

Very soon, you'll find tourists posing for a picture under one of the gantries... or even hordes of people taking group photos even!

New SAF Uniforms: 3

New SAF Uniforms: 3
More followups from my previous post here and here:
(Courtesy to Honda-san for passing me the link)

The new SBO. Looks cool, but I say its a big piece of sponge - it'll probably soak up lotsa rain and sweat... but it'll definately store more things though~ and it'll make a good pillow outfield when stuffed with leaves...
New Field Pack. YUCK. Recruits would probably be whining: "How come no wheels?"
Evolution - you get uglier and uglier...
Putting the uniform into actual terrain, u should be able to tell that the new uniform (centre) really blends better with the background compared to the current one (left). Another picture...

Lets see if you can spot the 3 fellas in this picture... takes a trained eye to spot them, but you'll probably be shot dead by the time you figured out their location.

Picture from STOMP:
Location at Unity Centre, #02-06.

New SAF Uniforms: 2

New SAF Uniforms: 2
Following my previous post, here are more updates from Mindef:

Pixelised camouflage pattern. Pixelisation generates micro-pattern within macro-pattern to reduce detection of soldier at short distance.

Buttons and velcro combination relieves stress points on chest when body armour is worn.

New apauletter position for easy identification (Specialist ranks remain on sleeves).
(Q: Its on the chest; becuz these "seafood" category people, commonly called "Gim" officers have their ranks on their shoulders and its so hard to recognise them until upclose. Well, easy identification would also mean that officers get shot first... opps!)

Inward buttoning on sleeves prevents entanglement with foreign objects.
Side pockets are pleated to provide comfort when filled, while slanted angle facilitates access in sitting position. Internal pouch within side pocket included for storage of small accessories.

Additional inner material reduces abrasion to groin region.

Shoulder straps remove stress point on shoulder when load is borne.

Mandarin collar protects soldier from abrasion caused by rifle sling.

Shirt can be folded up as an improvised triangular bandage for injured elbow.

Adjustable fastening slits and velcro holder secure position of elbow and knee guards.

Q: .... I changed my mind over getting one...

Cell Phone Popcorn

Cell Phone Popcorn
Original post from Dannychoo ; picture from gelbooru:

Witness the power of radiation... or were they radiation?

Dunno how true, but as far as I am concern, there were lotsa youtube videos out there showing a lot of idiots trying out this experiment using cooked popcorns (instead of the raw kernels). Goes to show that they've entered the later stage of "cellphone induced brain-fry".

Either way, I'm gonna avoid putting my cellphone in my front pocket... its bad for my children.

Oh by the way, Cloud Strife holding that panasonic phone... unrelated picture - solely for the purpose of grabbing attention only.

Sekirei

Sekirei
Sekirei ended its season one with the release of episode 12. This last episode was packed with so many actions unmatched even with episode 1 to 11 combined.

Musubi-chan (Sekirei #88), who was supposedly defeated so badly that her Sekirei crest disappeared, revived with the consciousness of The Destiny Sekirei, Yume (Sekirei #08), amid momentarily.
A single number Sekirei?! Yume totally pawned two of the Disciplinary squad members. Just who is Yume? Why did ‘Black’ attack without hesitation?! What’s with Musubi’s double personality?

There were still loads of questions left unanswered...

Will Shiina (#107) ever find his sister Kuu (#108)? Just what is (#10) Uzume’s agenda? Kazehana (#03) has been watching from behind the scene all these while, who’s side is she on? Homura (#06) is still unwinged, what will become of him? Matsu’s #02, how powerful is she? #01 Miya's been staying low in Izumo house all these while, what is she waiting for? What about the Ashikabis from the East, South, and West? Just what will the Sekirei Plan unfold into?

I can’t wait for Season 2…

Ah~~ I really hope my Sekirei will come along and I can fell in love again~ (^ __^)>

Anti-Fur

Anti-Fur
Original news from JapanToday:
Celebrity Aya Sugimoto takes part in an anti-fur campaign by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Asia Pacific (PETA) in Tokyo on Wednesday afternoon. Her photo is scheduled to be used in PETA’s upcoming advertising campaign in Japan, according to Jason Baker, director of PETA.

Sugimoto said, “When I think of those poor animals, it’s no big deal for me to be naked in an ad. A woman can be gorgeous without real fur.” Asked about leather products, she said she still continues to buy them because “leather production is different from fur production.” However, Sugimoto said she has never visited fur production facilities but had seen photos and movies of them on the Internet.
Q: Oh, I forgot to mention, she's 40 years old. And I am into leather...

Driving: The responsibilities of a driver 3

Driving: The responsibilities of a driver 3
Original post from Sankaku Complex:

Direct quote:
Tokyo, Japan
A young lady (19), just learning to drive, drove through Matsue City at breakneck speeds, soon crashing her ride into a streetlight at high speed in truly spectacular fashion, tearing the SUV in half and killing the three back seat passengers who unwisely let her take them for a spin, we hear. She was only lightly injured, as was the fortunate young man who sat beside her.

The three passengers killed were acquaintances of the driver, as was the surviving passenger, and the three soon died after being taken to hospital (looking at the state of the rear half it seems they had no chance at all).

The car in question was apparently a 2002 Mitsubishi AirTrek, a sturdy enough vehicle, so it is all the more impressive how badly it was totalled by her death defying/inducing driving.
Despite being a learner driver, with only a provisional licence, she was not displaying learner plates, and on top of this driving four other people around at high speed through central Tokyo is also not behaviour generally considered appropriate to learners; police are already looking at charges of involuntary vehicular manslaughter. She will doubtless have many difficult questions to answer when she is released from hospital.

Let us pray the girl has never so much as laid eyes on a copy of GTA in her life…

Q: Haiz... yet another case of motor mishap due to negligence - from families, victims, and protagonist. In such accidents, I wun just subject the blame onto one person (the driver). Many parties ought to be blamed in fact - the family who allow the easy access of the car to the driver; the driver who has not sense of responsibility; and the victims who let the driver take them for a ride and who did not buckled up.

Recent case in Singapore was that of a 15 yr old boy who drove out his family car - a blue Toyota Vios (if I recalled correctly) - and crashed into a tree along Bedok Road, instantly killed (damn, I hope the tree was alright...).

Let me say this: "Driving a car is easy. Its even easier driving an auto-transmission car. Its the driving on the road that is difficult".

It reminded me of a recent incident involving my sister. She stole my brother's car keys to his Hyundai Avante (while he's away overseas) and went out practising with another friend. If I hadn't noticed the car in another parking lot, I wouldn't have found out. It was only upon questioning did my sister admit to it. Although my sister passed her driving test recently (with 18 upon 21 points to failing under her belt), she hasn't received the green light from my family yet (she still needs to drive under supervision due to lack of experience). I promptly demanded her friend's contact number and gave him a piece of my mind over the phone (I can be scarely when I am angry...).

My last message to car-owners out there: "Please safe-keep your car keys, dun let it fall into the hands of inexperienced drivers..." (trees and street lamp could get damaged...)
