8 days in Samarinda: Day 7
16 April 2009
7:09am... Gotten used to waking up pretty early in the morning... (Mr. Cocknathan wakes me up at 6am sharp daily...)... Dad planted these plant in the front yard...
says the flowers gave off a very sweet smell~
My morning cup of coffee at the front yard...
Instant noodles for breakfast again... (yea I am getting fat...)
another shot of the house...
... and the birdnest house...
8:35m... at the Gudang again... =_=
the fuel injection pump is ready to be "inplanted" into the engine...
the "surgeon" at work~ machiam operation theatre...
10:45am... at a hardware store dealing with hydraulic pipes...
11:05am... at another acquaintance's workshop... Sri Wijaya... didn't take direct photographs due to confidentiality...
11:15am... passed a catholic church... churches are scarce there... 11:29am... kid selling newspaper in the middle of the road... and its raining too...
Hotel Bumi Benyiur... quite a hotel here...
New building by the boss who owns the S.C.P. ... currently the tallest building in the city...
11:41am... @ the kopi shop... my 2nd cup of coffee for the morning...You'll find packets of keropok on every table in every eateries calling out to you...
12:18pm... I loved the IndoMie instant noodles there so much that I bought 2 cartons of them... there're 40 packets of instant noodles in each cartoon, and each carton only costs Rp 49,000 (approxi. S$6.50).
NESCAFE 3-in-1 ... 100-sticks package! Only at Rp 85,000 (approx. S$11.30). Geez, I pay some $5.00++ for only a 30-stick package here in Singapore...also bought 2 packets of coffee powder... the local coffee tastes great and comes real cheap...Mango seller...Fruits seller lined the roadsides...
Pineapples...
Here's a U-Turn point near our place... thumb of rule: Got balls, move out; so long as you block ppl's road, they will slow down and let you proceed...
12:40pm... Turning in this street... a couple of prominent points to turn... its a maze in there...That metal barricade there serves to prevent bigger trucks and lorries from moving into that street...cuz the road in there is very narrow... just nice for 2 cars to pass each other without going down into the drains...
... and finally this building painted red...
12:53pm... dad let me into the birdnest house to help mamak out with the cleaning...
6 sacks of bird droppings from last year... they're worth some money... so we dun throw them away...
we clean up the birdnest house once every 2 months... yes, that's 2 months of droppings... the floor was rather "soft" cuz its thicken with droppings everywhere...
droppings were so thick I had to use a board to scrape them up first before I could sweep them up...the room was stuffy... the swiftlets were franctically flying about cuz of the lights and flashes from the torches and camera... and as we work, we perspire and the dust and feathers in the air stick to our faces, hair, and clothes...this is the closest I can bring you to a real birdnest... I wun be releasing the other photos.Ba ba black sheep have you any wool? Yes sir yes sir 3 bags full~ these 3 sacks of bird droppings were the collections for the day... I exited the birdnest house covered in dust and feathers... =_=6:46pm... Lia studies nursing... and she's giving the women in the house a test on their blood glucose level...
7:15pm... gave them my TODAY English newspaper I got SilkAir 6 days ago... they can't read English, but were pretty fasinated with the advertisements... especially the handphone advertisements...7:21pm... Dinner time~Fried Kampung chicken...9:05pm... Lia bought me some sweet snacks... tapioca with coconut toppings and gula melaka sauce~ sweet~
dad's room... didn't join the picture well at the bed... its bigger than my living room anyways... he's gonna convert this room into another birdnest room... that's gonna increase the production capacity...Samurai sword... the blade was rusty already...
air rifle...
9:18pm... after dinner is simply lazing in front of the TV...
blockbusters stares from 10:00pm onwards... oh, the reception for the T.V. sucks there... every now and then, the reception will tweak... and the TV goes 'bizzzzzzzzzzzzz' for a good 5secs and the images return again...
Dad has a liking for marble tables and solid wood furnitures...
the kitchen...
and the kitchen cabinets...
... just look at the work... its made of aluminium, so its near impossible to clean those stains...
They make super spicy chilli there that even my dad couldn't handle...
