Google Streetview

Google Streetview

Just thought I'd share some of the interesting stuff Google has came up with recently. Some of you might think its old news already, but this post is for those who hasn't tried this yet...

To begin, we shall go to Google Maps's URL: http://maps.google.com/.
I searched for Flinders's Street, Melbourne, and came to this page below. Notice there is this "Street View" button at the top of the map?
Clicking the "Street View" button, you will find that all the streets that has the "Street View" function enabled with be outlined in blue.
Zooming in further into Flinders Street, did you notice a "yellow man" in the map?
You can drag the little yellow man and place him anywhere along the streets.
Upon placing him down, you will be shown a picture of the street view of where that yellow man is standing. This is along Flinders Street.

Although not real time, what you can do with the above picture is that you can hold down the left-click button of your mouse and rotate the picture to the scene on your left or right.
Here is the left view...
And here's the right view...
You can even scroll upwards and take a good look at the building!
Looking down again at the ground level, you can also "zoom in" and take a good look at the shops below the building.
Lets take a walk along Flinders Street... Notice there are yellow "ribbons" on the road with white arrows? Clicking on the white arrows will bring you further ahead down along the road.

Keep walking and walking... or you can lift the yellow-man and place him further down the streets. Here, we arrived at the junction where Elizabeth Street joins Flinders Street.
Lets rotate the map rightwards and walk down Elizabeth Street~!
This feature literally lets you "stroll the streets", as long as it has been chartered by Street View.
Just look at how detailed the images can go... amazing~
Curiosity got the better of me and I scrolled my way to Japan... wondering if Google has done chartering Japan or not...
Notice "秋叶原" in the middle of the map? That's Akibahara - anime heaven of Japan.
*Clicks on the Street View button* ...
WOOHOOO~!!!
My EYES are in Japan! *Begins touring Japan for the next 72 hours*

CHARLIE YOUNG

CHARLIE YOUNG

Just watched Bangkok Dangerous... for 2 very good reasons - Nicholas Cage's always in good films... and there's Charlie Young!
Charlie stars as Fon, a deaf-mute girl working in a pharmacy; her very smile numbs pain and melts hearts... She didn't even have to speak a single word in the movie - her smile alone made my adrenaline rush~ I could get hurt many times just to find a reason to buy pain-killers and disinfectants from her...
One could tell that time has taken a toll on her, but she still looks damn attractive even without makeup! I guess that what we call a natural beauty eh?

Strike Witches & their Seiyuus

Strike Witches & Their Seiyuus
Original picture from Dannychoo:

A seiyū, seiyuu or seiyu (声優) is a Japanese vocal actor.

You are missing out a great deal of a title if you haven watched Strike Witches till now. The story plot and character-development were handled very well; makes you look forward to the next episode.

Then, with so many Strike Witches, which is your favourite character? Curious who is the Seiyuu behind your character?

My favourite character is Francesca Lucchini (3rd Row, 3rd Column), and her Seiyuu is Chiwa Saito.

But I am somehow attracted to the Seiyuu for Major Sakamoto... looking sweet~

Anyways, if you are interested in a short anime story between that of a Seiyuu-Tamago and a Marketing Exec, looking into their love story and understand the difficulties in their jobs, I'd recommend

Painting Day

Painting Day
Spent some quality time at home helping my parents paint the kitchen ceiling. Years of cooking has had the ceiling paint start peeling off from all the steam and oil, etc.

First, its scraping off those portions of the ceiling paintworks that are peeling off. Then its off to the paint-shop to buy some emulsion paint, wall sealer, putty, turpentine and paintbrushes.

I can still remember many years ago when I was still young, I volunteered to help out in the painting. Was passed a little brush and told to "settle the edges where the bigger rollers can't reach". And I happily skipped off with the brush and a little cup of paint... I was brushing the edges at the switches panel to the living-room lights, when I noticed the supposedly white plastic covers had turned a little yellowish... so I decided to give it a little 'revamp', hoping to delight my parents. But... I came to realise very soon that the paint doesn't really look very nice on plastic surfaces... (^__^) my disastrous paint-job is still around at the living-room, after so many years...

Honestly, this is the first time dad has passed the paint-brush over to me. I felt recognized. Hee~ This time, its the BIG roller-paintbrush! Wahahaha~ Dun play play~!

Well, that went a tiring but fun afternoon of painting. I totally forgotten about my principle of "proper headgear, clothing, and footwear for every job". Got some paint on my jeans, damn; the underneath of my feet was BLACK from stepping on the newspaper laid on the floor, then I stepped on wet paint drips, then it got mixed with the newspaper, and the whole underneath of feet became GREYISH-BLACK - Ewww~ ; worst, I got paint-drips on my arms and my HAIR~!!! Arghhh~!

End up, I got mum to help clean my hair with turpentine, while dad helped with rubbing off paint-drips off my arms. ( ^___^ ) Felt pampered~ an oily one though (from all the turpentine).

I recalled when I was still young, and the first time stepping into my house (technically speaking, my dad's flat) some 20 over years ago... the walls were still greyish - in its cement state. Unpainted. And the floorings were bare too. Dad and mum must have had lotsa fun painting up THEIR flat. So, in between today's paint-job, I day-dreamed a little (pisceans like me love to day dream)...

I dreamt of having this romantic time with my 'other half' (well, I placed HEBE into my mind-picture cuz I dun have anyone in my heart currently). We got married. We got our own flat. We are gonna start painting it. I got both of us a set of white coverall. And gloves. She looked so cute in it. And she made me a paper hat. I handle the big roller-brush, while she handles the little details with the tiny roller-brush. We painted OUR house. Then we help each other clean off those paint-drips on our faces. Awww~~

Above: Well, I couldn't find a decent picture of a couple in coveralls and holding paintbrushes. So here's a picture of Sara cosplaying as Winry Rockbell, from Full Metal Alchemist, in her half-coverall (not that I mind) and holding her trusty spanner instead of a paintbrush. Her full site at Celestialsphere, and more pictures of her Winry Rockbell pictures here.

1000Yen for a Squeeze

1000Yen for a Squeeze~?!
Original post from Dannychoo and TokyoReporter (Click to view)

Q: Wat the hell~?!! 1000Yen's like S$13.22...

TOKYO - It is a recent Sunday afternoon inside the offices of adult video broadcaster Paradise TV. Two enthusiastic female voices can be heard counting from behind a pair of covered booths: “Ichi, ni, san, shi, go!”

The entry flap of one booth is labeled with the kanji character pronounced ushiro (behind) and colored pink, the other is yellow and marked oppai (breast). Outside is a line of five men, each of whom is eagerly awaiting his turn to grab (with both hands) the bare buttocks and breasts of two adult video (AV) actresses five times for 1,000 yen - with all the proceeds being used for research to prevent the spread of the HIV virus and AIDS.
“I am so proud to have been selected for such a worthy cause,” says the curvy Aya Natsuki, 25, a veteran of roughly 50 AV films who ceded each of her buns for 100 yen per squeeze. “As well, this is an opportunity for me to communicate much more directly with my fans.”

Each year Paradise TV, a channel which specializes in wacky porn programming, holds its annual “24-Hour TV: Eroticism Saves the Earth” fund drive to raise money for the prevention of AIDS, a condition that continues to be a worsening problem in Japan.

Last year, donations totaled 2 million yen. Paradise expects this year to see a 50% increase in pledges, which have come from as far as away as North Carolina. Satellite provider SKY PerfecTV, which hosts Paradise broadcasts, and the Japan Foundation for AIDS Prevention are supporters.
This follows a trend in which the number of AIDS cases has slowly increased since 1996, making Japan one of the few industrialized nations in which the disease is on the rise. A reduction in condom use, an increase in the number of sex partners, and a stigma that associates HIV with homosexuals or foreigners, experts believe, are the reasons for the root of the problem.

Paradise president Tsuyoshi Shiba is concerned by the rise in the number of infections. “The adult entertainment business is easily misunderstood in our society,” says Shiba, who is wearing the yellow event t-shirt that features the famous manga character Machiko Sensei dangling a condom from her mouth while standing before a chalkboard. “As a corporate citizen in this business, we must take such a stance towards this problem.”
Paradise policy requires actors to wear condoms during regular filming. On this day, subscribers, too, are being given the opportunity to play it safe with a free 24-hour phone-sex service.

“Telephone sex is one way,” says actress Nana Aoyama, measuring in with her legendary 99-centimeter cups, “of avoiding stupid intercourse.” She is one of three ladies on hand to verbally aid callers in reaching orgasmic bliss.
To further help in this regard, masturbation aids are up for auction. Yuno Hoshino, whose resume includes incest and office lady roles, is assisting in the peddling of a synthetic “hole” and jelly from manufacturer Truth. With the minimum bid established at 500 yen, Hoshino then begins valiantly rubbing some of the lubricant over her bare chest to demonstrate the substance’s viscosity. By the time the hammer has fallen and her firm stars sufficiently cleaned with a moist towelette, a winning bid of 2,500 yen has been secured.
Earlier in the day, subscribers were invited to the Paradise rooftop to purchase a small restaurant dish - perhaps cubed tofu or boiled pork - that had been seasoned with the urine of an actress. The channel was hoping to provide a bit of protein as well for the half-dozen customers who arrived but there were challenges that could not be overcome. “We thought we could get both urinating and lactating girls,” explains Kenichiro Suzuki, manager of international sales, of the menu selection. “But the lactation just didn’t work out.”

Conspicuous by its absence is the “Tekoki Jinja,” or hand-job shrine, which debuted four years ago and allowed visitors to receive three minutes of intense stroking at the hands of an AV pro for 3,000 yen. In lieu of this form of worship, Suzuki explains, the buttocks squeeze debuted this year instead. The fund drive’s “Eroticism Saves the Earth” moniker is a stab at major broadcaster Nippon Television’s simultaneous telethon “Love Saves the Earth,” which is transmitted live from Tokyo’s Budokan theater. The three-decade-old event enlists upwards of 10,000 people to raise 6 billion yen for environmental causes. Critics might call Paradise’s parody to be in poor taste but Shiba believes otherwise.

“It is not about whether it is a parody or not,” says the president. “We are proud to provide a forum where questions can be raised and discussions about HIV can take place.”

Q: Sheesh~, the Japanese society sure is open-minded. I wouldn't want to comment on whether the girls there are being exploited or what-say-you, or criticism of male-chuvanism, etc. But if I were to see if from the perspective of the Japanese, their culture are strongly inclined to musculinity.

Ahem... now if you'd excuse me, I need to go squeeze my pillow for a while...

New SAF Uniforms

New SAF Uniforms
Q: Before I proceed with the main topic... I can only say "Oh shiit~~~". Why? Because it would only mean that we (as NSMen) will sooner or later receive the instructions from "above", to have our current uniforms changed.

I already have like 3 sets of 3 different types of uniforms, and 3 types of footwear to go along - No.3, No.4, and my Coveralls.
Then, its the hassle of getting our camouflage name-tags sewn, and buy our ranks / insignias for the new uniforms. And during this "transition" period, the entire SAF will be looking very "Chap-Pa-Lang" - some in new uniforms, some in old uniforms. some without name tags, some with... etc... Eh?! Wait a sec.... I am not with the SAF...
Here's the main article on Yahoo!Sg:

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s men in green will be seeing a new combat uniform from next year.
Some 300,000 servicemen will eventually be wearing the new SAF combat uniform with high—tech pixelised patterns on it. The patterns replace the large green patches on the old outfit.
The new material maintains the camouflage effect even when viewed through night vision devices.

It is also designed to be used in war zones that extend beyond the jungle.

Colonel Tan Chor Kiat, Chief of Staff, HQ 9 Division, Infantry, Singapore Armed Forces, said: "When you talk about urban terrain, you are really looking at a very unique characteristic where the opposing forces can co—exist within the same urban terrain in a very volatile system. Consequently, the soldiers are going to get shot at a lot more often, and at a much more shorter distance."

According to the SAF, the new uniform increases detection time by 30 to 50 percent in the urban environment, making it harder for enemies to find their targets.

It is also made from better quality fabric which helps dissipate sweat and heat away from the body quicker and comes with ergonomic features such as extra padding and pockets.

It will be introduced to all servicemen over a three—year period starting from 2009.

The first to receive the new uniforms will be recruits from the January Basic Military Training intake, as well as active personnel and NSmen in their sixth and seventh In—Camp Training years, while the rest will get theirs in 2010 and 2011.

NSmen currently in their seventh to ninth years, however, will not receive the new uniform.
SAF says this phased approach takes into consideration the wear and tear of servicemen’s existing uniforms. — CNA/de
Q: Well, from the sound of it, it seems like it will be a "standard-issue". And here're some pictures I found off Yahoo!-Images. I think the grey-blueish-white combination is more suited to Urban-warfare in Singapore. Of course, the green-brown-black is probably "the color".More funny is this article found off STOMP:

Wrote a blogger, who didn't name the female party:
"The wife of a regular officer wants to petition against the change in army uniform because she don’t find it sexy."

"Dear all, I’m an army wife and my husband is a SAF regular army officer. One of the many primary reasons I married my husband is because of his dashing uniform. We were fixed up by someone we knew mutually and had many email conversations over a month before we met. He sent me a picture of him in his no.4 uniform and immediately, I fell in love with the way he looks in it (i didn’t say i fell for him immediately). I felt myself swooning.

When we began dating, he invited me once to a parade in his camp and when I saw him in person in his no.4 uniform, I was sure and told myself I will make this man my husband. The whole get-up made my knees weak. On our wedding, he wore his no.1.

Anyway, I was horrified to find out that SAF was going to change the no. 4 uniform. What was worse is that the new uniform is unspeakably ugly. It looks like pyjamas and the camo print is hideous. The colours are gross too, with a lot of brown, very weird, looks like crap.

The colors of the current one are perfect and manly. And the camo print of this current one is perfect too. The cut, lapels, badges, collar, cutting are perfect. I don’t understand why they would change such a nice and flattering uniform. The current SAF army no.4 is the nicest and smartest and manliest army combat uniform throughout all the armies in the world.

I would like to ask if wives are asked for their opinions before this change was decided? Who decided this? As wives of our regular soldiers, we are in close contact with the uniforms as much as the soldiers are. And it is also a large part of our lives. I fell for my husband because of the dashing and manly no.4 uniform. Many many other army wives believe that uniform is extremely flattering and sexy.

Can we seek some explanation or redress in some way? :( "

Q: ROFL~!!! If I am the army-officer / husband, I will dig a hole in the ground and hide inside forever! Come on lady, we are talking about life and death here. Its a matter of camouflage and not getting shot at! Not aesthetic appeal! You can get your husband to model in the old uniform in the privacy of your home and coax you into bed. But spare a thought for the rest of the boys out there please~ My goodness...

Hard Water: Part 4

Probably gonna be as long as Harry Porter series....
Hard Water
Hard Water: Part 2
Hard Water: Part 3

1st September 2008, at the Subordinate Courts...

Reported to the CRIME REGISTRY counter 6 first.

Well, as usual at all governmental places, its the take-a-queue-number-sit-down-and-wait-for-your-turn... Handed in my court summon/ letter and more waiting.

Until finally an Ah-Beng looking fella came out from the room and called out my name. Then he led us to the mediation centre before disappearing. The little girl (let's call her Jeslyn) and her family walked ahead of us. Her father and elder sister were present. My parents accompanied me.

"Dang~ not court-session eh?" I thought to myself. When it came to such a stage, my mindset is already blocked and I have no rooms for further negotiations...

I must say I have a very stubborn nature. If a person is wrong, he's wrong till the very end. No rooms for compromising. Lucky thing the 2 "Master Mediators (what they have 'levels'?!)" doesn't look gay. One chinese Mediator, another Ah-Neh Mediator. I was already very defensive and I showed them by crossing my arms and looking very stern.

And so, the room closed and the mediation session starts. . .

The mediators began by introducing themselves and telling what were we doing in the mediation-session room. I questioned them about their purpose and what they hope to achieve through this. (I can be a very hard-to-deal-with person when I am angry.) The mediator was good with his words and managed to convinced me to go through the session with them.

I had to relate my side of the story again, in the presense of the mediators, Jeslyn, and her father. And no one was supposed to interrupt until I complete. This is the countless amount of times I had re-told my story. I know the mediators would have read through my case and seen my statement. I reckon they just want to make sure my story coincides with my statement, perhaps putting check on my tone, clarity, and body-language.

Then its Jeslyn's turn. She stammer several times. Unprepared. Traumatized perhaps. At this stage, I couldn't care anymore.

And so, the mediator advised Jeslyn, sharing codes of conduct and society rules... that being mischievious and getting into trouble is part-and-parcel of growing up, and also ensuring her that nobody's gonna put her behind bars because she is still a minor.

"If you really did it, then its only right to own up... but if you really didn't do it, then you shouldn't own up" the mediator summed up.

Again, Jeslyn denied the action.

Ah-Neh mediator calls for a private session alone with Jeslyn and her father.

I left the room with my father. Waited outside for a good 5 mins. Mum's further outside, seated at the lobby.

Then its our turn for the private session. Went in, and the mediators told me that Jeslyn continues to deny the accusations. However, her father did agree to offer me an apology for the brother's rude actions if I were to let the matter rest.

I gave further accounts that I am a victim, that I have an eye witness, and I have every rights to believe the account of the eye witness. And that Jeslyn's statement hasn't been very consistent. That I had tried to settle the case aside with Jeslyn's brother, seeking compensation to my car and to really leave the little girl alone. Let her family lecture her for all I care. But her brother challenged me to further legal actions.

At this stage, I dun seek monetary compensation. I just want justice done - they admit and they apologise.

"I don't want to condone such behaviours".

Jeslyn and her father were called in again. They were reminded that there was a neutral-party eye witness pin-pointing her as the culprit, and were asked if they want to reconsider their answer.

Again, Jeslyn gave a negative answer.

So the mediators asked if I am agreeable with letting the matter rest, considering that she is still a child, and accept the apology from her father over the brother's rudeness.

"No, I shall bring the matter further", I replied sternly.

And so, the mediation session failed and wrapped up with Jeslyn's father and me signing on a piece of document, and the case was returned to the Magistrate Court for her further actions.

To be continue...
