Coming of age is known in Japan as Seijin no Hi [成人の日[せいじんのひ]] and is usually celebrated around the first half of January. This year's Seijin no Hi took place the other day where thousands of Japanese who just turned twenty celebrated by dressing up in traditional attire (many of the boys just wear suits though), going to shrines and in some cases running amok.
